The Perfect Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution Based on the Astrological Sign
This return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked widespread enthusiasm within the community. From the gradual reveal of newcomers before the title's release, to players forming firm opinions on the entire lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for fans to anticipate.
With many of the Super Forms boasting distinctive designs that highlight their traits, one idea came to mind: What's the best way to connect this with astrology? The following is based on a mix of vibes, sign stereotypes, and individual observations.
The Ram – Super Camerupt
To be truthful, Houndour's evolution was almost chosen for Aries, as both are the Super Form and zodiac symbol that evoke the most fear. But, a Super Houndoom comes across as always angry, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram far more akin to Mega Camerupt, which only erupts when provoked. Stay on the friendly side of both and enjoy a powerful partner; if you cross them, prepare to get burned.
The Bull – Super Heracross
Similar to a loyal Bull, the steadfast Heracross species, whether in its standard and Super Form, has assisted numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. While dependable, each the Pokémon and a Bull are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Super Heracross that reminds me most of my Taurus friends, however, is its unashamed love of treats. Several past official descriptions note their craving for tasty sap and how it uses its appendage to hoard it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.
Gemini – Mega Medicham
Observe this absolute royalty. It's impossible to tell me this creature is not the life of any gathering, providing an endless fountain of chatter to those who wants to hear. Much like an enrapturing, gregarious Gemini, it's very simple to envision Super Medicham captivating an whole Wild Zone with their tales. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also states its ability to predict an enemy’s next moves, which seems quite similar to a socially-savvy Twins.
The Crab – Mega Manectric
The Crab is widely regarded as the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, a passionate sign famous for frequently getting wrapped up in their emotions. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution charges the Pokémon with a “tremendous quantity of energy, but it's excessive for this Pokémon to fully control,” which seems a lot like a classic Crab crash-out. It is also known for its ability to create a storm cloud over its own self – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is going to do, it’s spoil their own parade.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Well, did you think I was going to select Pyroar for the lion of the stars? Besides the reality that it would be far too obvious, Leo is obviously Super Starmie, the star whose gams just became an internet sensation for being extremely glamorous (or horrifying, based on your preference). Players were captivated from the purple starfish, and that’s exactly the identical energy a Leo offers to the table. This Pokémon is also rumored to be transmitting radio waves from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s just like a Lion to be putting on a show, even if for extraterrestrials.
Virgo – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Virgo is perfectly represented in Mega Victreebel, the Mega with constant digestive issues. The zodiac symbol famous for being endearingly judgmental is strongly reflected across this Pokémon’s whole lineage, from a perpetually surprised face like a Virgo when you inform them you don’t have a retirement plan, to its upside-down face that’s similar to the symbol a Maiden sends to the group chat when all says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of making a strategy.
Libra – Super Audino
Observe this sweet, empathetic creature, who employs the sensors on its ears to tell how people are feeling by their pulse. Consistently empathetic – sometimes to a detriment – and trying to maintain the harmony, there are many Libras who would probably appreciate Super Audino's abilities. However, to be frank, it would probably just cause them to worry more about everyone else.
The Scorpion – Super Banette
Banette is a Pokémon with a unexpectedly sad backstory: Discarded as a doll, it became consciousness through sheer hatred and swore revenge on its previous caretaker. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That sounds precisely like several conversations I’ve had with my intense Scorpion friends. A Scorpion adores karma and retribution, making them the ideal pair with Mega Banette.
The Archer – Super Hawlucha
Each Mega Hawlucha and Archers are always staging a show. Being a Sagittarius myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some variation of a “silly little jester” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its Pokédex entry even mentions how it “poses to show off its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had a Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most apt Sagittarius match I can imagine.
Capricorn – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Mega Absol has the ability to predict disasters ahead of time? That exudes the exact same energy as a Capricorn, who tends to always think they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the very first Mega Evolution that players meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Goat to get in on the beginning of the Mega trend.
The Water Bearer – Super Chandelure
Detached air sign Aquarius is possibly the non-flame placement that is closest to a fire sign – its counterpart is the Lion, and there are numerous jokes about Sagittarius and Aquarius being unpredictable partners in crime. Super Chandelure's dual Ghost/Fire typing fits perfectly with this, and the Mega’s general intimidating aura is also extremely Water Bearer. If you hadn't yet convinced, the Super Form's Pokédex entry says it “absorbs negative energy and transforms it into power.” If that fails to exactly {encaps
