Spurs Manager Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when the keeper gave away possession far outside his box.

He came out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario again, some Tottenham fans booed him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

One of those booing episodes truly angered Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Dane stated regarding the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the fans' frustration," Hart continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent team player, he's a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game

Italian international Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the criticism.

"That goal was a error of my own, I accept responsibility for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay more calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn results. This match is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a little extra opportunity. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it on target. I had a positive feeling, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error led headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a joint team record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play before the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have occurred since the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you too – the opening was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their lowest rates on record in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the stick," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious job at a huge team with massive anticipation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
