Recent Details Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains

Recent details have emerged about the untimely deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and denied bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

The source also pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
