Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities said.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a individual with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a security uniform firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
