Arsenal's manager remains confident that his side can persist in handling with fitness issues following confirming that attacker Kai Havertz remains out for several more weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for German Star

The Germany international has been absent for months due to an operation on his knee. Hoped to come back earlier in December, Arteta revealed the player hit a snag when stepping up his recovery and could not progress “the required stage.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a squad that is considerably steadier and has more options,” commented Arteta.

Selection Dilemma for Midweek Fixture

This update presents a tactical puzzle for the midweek fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. In response if more options was aiding their league challenge, the manager agreed. “Indeed, as this campaign has presented greater challenges in the attacking line, and now what’s happening with the defence,” he added.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we have to use players in different positions, and they must be capable to adapt to new tasks if we aim to challenge at the highest level. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Arteta's Support for Frustrated Havertz

Commenting on the complication previously mentioned by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided further detail. “He was doing everything. He could not go to the next level and now it’s looking like we have solved that issue.”

The manager conveyed his personal desire to have him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. I mean, he is a footballer who, for me, I value highly for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his attitude. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”

“His fitness history is outstanding, he's rarely been injured, and I am eagerly awaiting to get him back around the team and playing because I think it’s going to be a huge lift.”
