The tenth week again delivered, with a major surprise for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many fans into the NFL

This outcome may have opened things up for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors

Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award

The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen try too much or was it just a bad day for the Bills?

Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to answer

The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance

MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's top offences

Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two scores

Containing the league's best rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and company registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard average

Then there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine minute drive yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to seven points just two plays

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the calm, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this season

The Dolphins have served up a varied performances this season so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East

Spotlight - Patriots Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed

Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three eight and two squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the top team?

One could find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 wins achieved against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver

The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa to their prime time win in Buffalo seems like a statement

Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was huge

Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he certainly deserves point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to steer his side to success

The defense is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to break 22mph this season on his initial touchdown

While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against the Bills

Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to face two times, the Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list

The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to travel but the door is available for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference

Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Showdown

Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who each put up forty points to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major meeting between the pair in Los Angeles

They've both won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a game

Each could realistically be without a loss as too - especially the Rams as their two defeats came in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick blocked and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown

The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the top teams in the NFL

The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
